Some word games are too rude. Some just aren't funny.
This one is (relatively) clean, good, silly fun!
“The Game” is an online word game in the style of “Apples to Apples” or “Cards Against Humanity”.
Yes. I mean, there's a family version. And there's Apples to Apples, which is a family-friendly version of this game but one that's so toned down as to be un-funny and not worth playing.
"Hallelujah it's raining poo" is about as bad as you'll get here. Contrary to popular parental opinion, the word "poo" is quite funny. Go on, admit it! If you have strict family rules about such things maybe this game isn't for you.
And there may be things that children have never heard of, and there's some minor political themes that you can choose to ignore or embrace. It's a learning experience, right?
If you're not played those before, the idea is that each round one player draws an "adjective" card, and the other players have a hand of "noun" cards that they choose from. The noun players choose the card that they think goes best with the adjective.
The criteria for "goes best with" is entirely subjective and down to the adjective player who, at the end of the round, judges which of the nouns is best. The player of the chosen noun wins the noun card as a "point".
We encourage you to make the process of choosing a card that wins quite dramatic. Come up with some crazy criteria for judging. Surprise your friends with a wild choice.
It doesn't sound funny when you right it down like this, but hilarity often ensues.
This is one of Ross's stupid side projects and is therefore experimental, may change or break at any point, but it does work and successful games have been played.
PLEASE do not share this game publicly. Currently there is no protection on starting games, so if it becomes public I'm likely to have a mass of spam signups and my server will quickly get overwhelmed and die.
But invite your friends to play, and tell them to keep it to themselves too.
You need at least four players really. Each player needs a computer or mobile device with a working internet connection.

Once started you will see a joining link that you can send to your friends.
That's it! Have fun!
Currently there is no facility to do this yourself. But email me your ideas at ross@oikos.digital and I'll see if I can add them in.
Made by Ross Wintle. Don't blame me for anything.
